the purpose of the group is to create an environment that fosters meditative development. This environment includes a beautiful meeting space, guided meditation instructions for beginners, stillness and silence for all, and a community of committed practitioners. All levels of experience are welcome!
so, if you are interested in learning about, or deepening, your meditation practice, please join us.
Meditation, when developed and cultivated, is peaceful and sublime, an ambrosial pleasant dwelling. It dispenses and quells, right on the spot, detrimental states of mind whenever they arise. (Gotama)
as the Buddha would say: come and see for yourself!

Meditation is simply a way of knowing ourselves directly, minus the usual mediating modes of concept and identity. Through the practice of meditation mental qualities that are beneficial to well-being are naturally (that is, without contrivance and effort) developed and increased, while those that are detrimental are weakened and dissolved.
Based on the premise that our lives – our emotions,
perceptions, moods and feelings, reactions to external
and internal stimuli, thoughts, words, and actions – are
the direct result of our mental state at any given moment,
meditation can be seen as a practice that operates at
the most fundamental level of our being. A mind that is
clear, calm, and at ease engenders a life that is clear,
calm, and at ease. To sit in meditation is to realize this
manner of being.

The practice of the Applied Meditation Practice Group is based on simple, direct, and unencumbered instructions given by the Buddha. The practice involves still and silent investigation into the body, emotions, thoughts, and sensorium.
The practice is summarized in Meditation Handbook, by Glenn Wallis. To order, please visit the "books" page on this site.
